LEADERS INITIATE REPAIR WHEN THEY CAUSE HARM TO OTHERS

Even with the best intentions, when we're under pressure and stressed it is easy for us to fall below the line and react - leaving our relationships in disarray.

Here are two resources and a practice challenge to help you.

  • Here's a comprehensive blog post from SHRM on the steps to take.

  • I especially appreciate how this HBR article frames conflict in relationships as being about "us". This is a great tool for preventing the blame game when it comes to facing a relationship challenge.

THE PRACTICE

As hard as it may be - (humans are really good at resisting uncomfortable situations) take the first step in reflecting on your current relationships and identify one that needs repair.

  • Then follow the steps in this blog.

  • Still resisting or not ready to move forward?

  • Reflect on how the current state of this relationship is costing you and those around you.

  • Need support? Reach out to me or someone you trust to partner with you on this.

I have a strong belief that when we start getting comfortable with addressing the difficulties we're having with one another - we grow our leadership and strengthen our communities.
